GO TO: www.andrewwasson.com Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question... Q: I'm trying to stretch-out my improvising skills with the use of chromatics. I'm more or less a rock player and I play fairly basic riffs & licks. Would you have any straight-forward advice for me when it comes to moving my simple licks chromatically? Thanks in advance -- I think your YouTube guitar lessons are the best on the net. Coop -- Ireland A: The sound of chromatic licks is generally pretty intriguing to most guitar players. But, because scales and modes, (once you understand your Music theory), are relatively easy to define (especially, as to how they operate with harmony). On the other hand, the application of chromatic ideas can be somewhat confusing since they don't exactly correspond to the overall harmony occurring at any moment. In this video lesson, we'll take a look at a few ways that you can apply chromatic ideas quite easily around your riffs & licks. The complete lesson article for this video will be available on the Creative Guitar Studio website shortly.
