Old Genre, New Facade

Anyone with a keen eye on the music industry will know that there are some genres that are doomed to extinction and others that are only going to be truly appreciated by people at the periphery. Classical music is one of these genres. Although it was all the rage in the centuries of old, it has been squeezed out of the mainstream and is now mostly enjoyed by old pensioners and the odd, musically inclined young adult or teenager. Classical music appreciation, unfortunately, is almost non-existent amongst the younger members of our society. It has to compete with the likes of Taylor Swift and Eminem and their packaged, consumer-friendly tunes and rhythms.
I find it interesting, therefore, when musicians or music institutes go out of their way to adapt themselves to current trends and styles, often to the dismay of musical purists. A few days ago, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra held a Star Wars themed classical concert, a risky venture that only a few classical music establishments would dare organize. It surprised many music commentators, therefore, that the concert was a hit and that hundreds of people from across the musical spectrum attended. I am not a keen classical music fan but I think Baltimore Symphony Orchestras little experiment has a lot to teach practitioners of fringe genres like classical music.

Blah Blah Blah is the Newest Sensation in Music Genre

“What’s in a name?” – As quoted Shakespeare in his famous play Romeo and Juliet still holds true to its meaning in the contemporary world. In an age when musical bands are running behind fancy names for their groups, how does a name like ‘Blah Blah Blah’ sound to you? You must be surprised to hear about such a name for a musical band but this is the name that was chosen by the young musical group from Chicago. They chose this unassumingly unique name with a noble aim of reaching to the audience via their song contributions that is Blah Blah Blah Music.
The young group from Chicago, Blah Blah Blah had it in mind that, your music should matter and not your name. No name, no matter how appealing and attractive it is, holds the strength to cover up bad music. With such a nametag attached to the band, the group from Chicago made sure that Blah Blah Blah Music should not restrict in being just good but, should come up as great.
The name of the group itself came up as a challenge to them, as they will have to compete in a market with bands having fancy and attractive names.
